Upgrade SportChrono and SportChrono standalone from version 1.0 to version 2.0 (US customers only)

This is a special offer for US customers, who bought the SportChrono or Standalone kit in 2026

You enjoy your SportChrono replacement gauge, but you would like to upgrade to version 2.0?

Yes, this can be done!

While the internals of the black box are fully compatible with the new firmware, the firmware needs to be upgraded and a small hardware modification needs to be made. And - of course - you need a new display gauge.
Unfortunately these units can not be upgraded in the field, they need to be upgraded in our lab.

OPTION A (You send me the black box back and I’ll upgrade it in our lab):

If you purchase this service here is what’s going to happen:

• You ship your “black box” back to 997research, leave everything else where it is

• We upgrade the firmware and send you the black box and a new display unit.

What we need:

• Only the “black box” is needed'

OPTION B (You get a new gauge + new black box and you use your existing cables)

• We will send you a new black box + a new gauge, you use your existing cable that are already in your car

Due to tariffs/custom duties/shipping charges this service is currently only available with in the US (sorry), I am working on ways to offer the same to international customers.

Please note for owners of the “Standalone” gauge: The option to mount the round gauge on top of the steering column is no longer available in version 2.0
