Another thing that seems to give up over time on the 964/993/944 climate control panel are the climate control sliders.
The inner plastic tabs that hold them in place eventually break and then they fall off and you find them lying on your floor mat. (see last two pictures)
A single replacement slider costs between $25 and $40 online.
But you really don’t need to throw away your existing sliders, you just need to repair them.
I created a pair of inserts that go inside the sliders. Now the sliders again sit solidly in place.
The inserts are made of semi-soft plastic (TPU95). The sliders’ illumination is not affected by the repair.
